In you can’t go home again, Antigoni Papantoni reflects on her experiences of the past decade, feeling like a sailor adrift between cultures, gradually losing her sense of belonging. This sense of disorientation inspired her to develop an intuitive, autobiographical photography practice that explores elusive concepts of home and identity. The book unfolds as a visual road movie, mirroring a journey from unfamiliarity to intimacy. It acts as a navigation guide through the challenging process of seeking a place of refuge – a haven to come home to.

Antigoni Papantoni

Antigoni Papantoni lives and works between Lausanne (CH) and Athens (GR). Having studied computer science, film theory & aesthetics, she  graduates from the Photography School of Vevey (CH) in 2014. Ever since, she is focusing her artistic and professionnal practices on visual storytelling and personal narratives. 

Her work has been shown in various group shows, festivals and publications in Europe, while her first photobook, you can’t go home again, was published in collaboration with Zoetrope, Athens and released during Polycopies 2024. She is currently developing her second photobook, KAIROS, in collaboration with Jean-Marc Caimi & Valentina Piccini.

She has participated in various photography workshops as well as engaged in associations promoting contemporary photography. Since 2023, she has also founded  a photography & nature workshop based on collective creativity practices on the island of Anafi, Greece.

Parallelly, she is curating and producing independent creative documentaries and works as a cultural manager for prestigious film festivals and coproduction markets, while having founded a collective, self-managed cultural space in Athens, Greece.
