Biography

A notion. An idea.
The most reduced form of the Self is only a trace of memory.
Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah was born in 1990 in Bonn, Germany. Being of German-Ghanaian descent, she has always been concerned with the question of belonging and identity. She studied at University of Fine Arts in Saarbrücken, Germany. Originally influenced by painting, Akosua developed an independent practice between performance and photography, using film as her canvas. Her work focuses on self-portraiture and memory in their dissolution and constitution through time, body, reflection and projection.
