Biography

Roxana Savin (b. in Romania) is a photographic artist based in Geneva, Switzerland. Savin studied photography at Fine Art School of Photography Moscow and was awarded a MA Photography with Distinction by Falmouth University UK. Savin’s artistic practice, which is often intertwined with her personal narrative of migration, focuses on self-initiated personal projects. A self-declared feminist, Savin is interested in issues surrounding gender equality, identity, status of women, social structures of power and resistance, while working along the border between fine art and documentary framework. She was nominated as one of GUP Fresh Eyes Talents 2021. Her projects have been featured in British Journal of Photography, Royal Photographic Society Journal, Edge of Humanity magazine, Bird in Flight magazine, ArtDoc magazine, Photomonitor, Fast Forward Women in Photography. Savin’s first monograph ‘I’ll be late tonight’, inspired on her experience of living as an expatriate women in Russia, was awarded ‘Silver Winner’ Prix de la Photographie Paris 2021.
