Biography

Karla Hiraldo Voleau was born in the Dominican Republic in 1992 and grew up in France. She graduated from Ecal in 2018. Her practice revolves around the status of the intimacy in what appears to be a tenderless era. Personal engagement in her visual narratives, use of the own archive and involved participation creates a framework where an intimate conversation unfolds into a visual experiment. She explores the common points between performance and photography, using her own body and identity, to emphasize on her female gaze. While investigating the borders of the allowed in human interactions, love, sexuality, friendship, she wants to put on display the brutal loneliness of our times.
